Working around Session 0 IsolationWindows services run entirely in the background, in Session 0. That's because of Session 0 Isolation — a security feature present in all modern versions of Windows. So when you run your application as a Windows Service with AlwaysUp, you will not see your application's windows or tray icon on your screen. At least, not unless you do some extra work. To see your application while you're logged on, you can restart it in your login session from AlwaysUp. Choose Application > Restart in this session to quickly stop your application and start it visibly on your desktop: But that only works when you're logged in. There is no "regular" session available when your PC boots — not until you log in to your computer. If your application doesn't work in the background in Session 0 and needs to run in a "regular" login session, you should set up automatic logon. Doing so will create a regular session when your computer boots and AlwaysUp will start your application there. Go to the start of this troubleshooter... |
